Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has reacted after Yahya Sinwar was elected the new leader of the Palestinian militant group, Hamas.
The Israeli chief diplomat has stated that Sinwar's election as head of the group is one more reason to eliminate him and the Palestinian organization.
"The appointment of terrorist-in-chief Yahya Sinwar as the new leader of Hamas, to replace Ismail Haniyeh, is another compelling reason to quickly eliminate him and wipe this filthy organization off the face of the earth," Katz wrote on Platform X .
Sinwar was appointed after Ismail Haniyeh was killed in his Tehran residence last week.
The assassination was reported to have been orchestrated by the Mossad, who hired Iranian Revolutionary Guard agents to plant explosives under the bed just hours before he was killed.
Considered the main orchestrator of the "October 7 massacre", Sinwar is Israel's most wanted man in its attack on Gaza.
The 61-year-old Palestinian helped establish Hamas's military wing, the Qassam Brigades, but became known as "the butcher of Khan Younis" for his commitment to hunting down Israeli spies and suspected Palestinian collaborators.
