Turkey's National Security Council met today under the chairmanship of Recep Tayyip Erdogan with the main topic being the developments in Gaza and the Caucasus.
In the statement issued after the meeting of the Council, it was said that "Israel will sooner or later face the consequences of the inhumane crimes it has committed in Gaza, which have been recorded in history as a stain."
It also talks about a collective responsibility of the international community to stop without delay the attacks aimed at the extermination of innocent citizens and the occupation of the Gaza territories, and it is underlined that Turkey will continue to undertake all kinds of initiatives in this direction.
The Turkish National Security Council points out to Israel and all those who support it that if the heinous acts are not stopped immediately, they may trigger a cycle of violence whose effects will last for generations and may spread beyond the region and emphasize that a lasting peace can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent, sovereign and geographically unified Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.
Regarding the developments in the Caucasus, the conclusion of the negotiations on the agreement of a lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the normalization of our relations with Armenia in this context were appreciated.
