
In an official announcement, the Assembly of North Macedonia has confirmed that Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski has resigned, starting the process for the formation of a technical government.
In addition to the prime minister, it is expected that the Speaker of Parliament Talat Xhaferi will also resign, starting his duties as technical prime minister for 100 days before the next elections.
In this context, a new deputy for DUI must be elected and the new coordinator of SDSM, Jovan Mitreski, is expected to be elected as the Speaker of the Parliament.
"Talat Xhaferi has experience in running the parliament, I came with another experience, in running corporations and we have a different style as politicians, but the state will certainly maintain the same direction, pro-Western orientation and strategic goals, the technical government will take good care of the citizens. This is something that the law foresees and on May 9, the new government will be led by me and the coalition that will take Macedonia to the EU by 2030" , said Kovacevski before handing over the mandate.
According to his earlier statement, the entire government should resign today, to allow the formation of a technical government before the parliamentary session on Friday.
