After Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio reacted today. According to him, this is an abnormal decision, which can cause diplomatic incidents.
"The reaction of the politicians was not against justice, but against the merit of this sentence, which we do not agree with and even consider abnormal. These decisions also risk creating diplomatic incidents, because the designation of a friendly country like Morocco as unsafe can also create problems. If we considered that the countries where the rules we have rejected as a death penalty, then the United States would not be safe", said the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio.
Speaking to journalists at a conference in Palermo, Nordio emphasized that this is a matter of high politics and not the competence of magistrates. According to him, legislative measures will be taken for this decision.
"It cannot be justice that defines a more or less safe state, it is a very high political decision. We will take legislative measures".
