Hungary 'demands answers from Ukraine's leadership' over the money and gold shipment that was seized by authorities.
Balázs Orbán, political director in Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's office, said Hungary would "demand answers from the Ukrainian leadership" regarding "who is behind this money and what it is intended to finance."
Posting photos of money and gold allegedly transported by the Ukrainian banking delegation, he said that "Hungarian authorities have launched a full investigation" into the incident, probing possible money laundering offences.
"What makes this even more alarming is that since January, more than $900 million, 420 million euros and 146 kg of gold have reportedly been transported through Hungary to Ukraine," he said.
Moving armored vehicles full of cash and gold through Hungary is not how legitimate financial transactions usually work.
