Iranian regime faces another blow: key Khamenei aide reportedly eliminated
Seyyed Ali Asghar Hejazi

Seyyed Ali Asghar Hejazi, a powerful figure in the supreme leader's security apparatus, was reportedly killed in a precision strike

The power structure in Tehran has reportedly suffered another serious blow, as Seyyed Ali Asghar Hejazi, deputy chief of staff at the Office of the Supreme Leader, head of the office's security and intelligence apparatus, and one of the leading candidates to succeed the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has reportedly been targeted and eliminated in a precision strike.

Hejazi, a low-profile but influential cleric who effectively led Khamenei's inner circle and oversaw key intelligence functions, was one of the few figures who could stabilize the regime after Khamenei's death in the February 28 US-Israeli assassination attempts.

His elimination further deepens the leadership vacuum in Iran, which already faces internal divisions.

According to these reports, there are no longer any safe zones for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) or the clerical elite. With the supreme leader dead, senior IRGC commanders killed, and now Hejaz out of the picture, the Islamic Republic faces an acceleration of its political crisis.

Analysts and commentators who have shared the news assess that the clerical establishment's control over power is rapidly weakening and that recent developments may mark a new phase in the regional confrontation with Iran.
