The moment of the earthquake in Morocco was the end for the lives of thousands of people and for Khadija's daughter it marked her arrival in life. The girl was born just minutes before the deadly earthquake hit the country on the evening of September 8.
The mother and her baby are living in a tent after the hospital they were in was evacuated due to fears of aftershocks. After a quick check-up after the birth, Khadija and her husband left for their home in Taddart in the Atlas Mountains, about 65 km from Marrakesh, foreign media BBC reports .
Along the way, they found that the roads were blocked by landslides and only reached the village of Asni. Since that day, the family has been living in a tent by the main road. Later, friends from their hometown told the family that their house had been badly damaged and that they were now without a suitable place to stay.
So far, more than 21,000 victims have been recorded and more than 2,421 have been injured in the devastating earthquake that struck Morocco a few days ago. Search teams from different countries are engaged to find survivors, but the difficulty is great.
The 6.9-magnitude quake left behind collapsed houses, blocked roads and destroyed entire villages.
