The US Secretary of Defense spoke about ungrateful allies in Europe and accused Bush, Obama and Biden of a lack of credibility regarding the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated today that the US's goals in the war with Iran have been the same from the beginning and have not changed to this day, during a briefing for journalists on the development of operations in the Middle East.
At the same time, he described European allies as ungrateful, who do not say "thank you" to Donald Trump for his efforts to "liberate" the world from Iran.
He added that "the last position anyone would want to hold in the world right now" is that of a senior leader in the Iranian armed forces, calling them "temporary positions."
"A regime like this, which refuses to give up its nuclear ambitions, is not just a regional problem, it is a direct threat to America, freedom and civilization," Hegseth stressed about Iran.
He then added that "the world, the Middle East, our ungrateful allies in Europe and even parts of the US press should say something to President Trump: 'thank you.'"

Hegseth also said that "Iran is a big country and just like Hamas with its tunnels, they have difficulties, but we are going after them like no other army in the world," while the US has sunk more than 120 Iranian ships and hit more than 7,000 targets across Iran.
He repeated US claims from last week that Iranian ballistic missile attacks have decreased by 90%.
"The Iranians will keep shooting, we know that, but they would shoot a lot harder if they could," Hegseth said.
In his speech, Hegseth did not mention Iran's overnight attacks on Qatar's energy infrastructure, which sent oil prices soaring.
Then, when asked about it, he declined to give any timeline for the operation in Iran, but said the United States was on track to achieve its goals.
"Ultimately, it's going to be the president who decides when we say, 'Okay, we've done what we need to do for the American people to ensure our safety,'" he continued, adding: "So there's no specific date set, but we're very well on track," Hegseth said.
