French President Emmanuel Macron has called for a reduction in tensions on all sides after Iran attacked a US base in Qatar on Monday, saying the "spiral of chaos" must end.
"I call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint, reduce tensions and return to the negotiating table. The spiral of chaos must end ," he said in X.

The French president expressed solidarity with Qatar after the attacks and said he was in "close contact" with Qatari officials and regional partners.
Earlier on Monday, Macron sharply criticized US President Donald Trump's operation over the weekend, saying there was "no legal framework" for the United States to strike three Iranian nuclear sites.
