The wife of Iran's former supreme leader, Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, is alive, while previous reports claiming she had been killed prove to be incorrect.
The news was published by the Iranian Fars News agency, which cited sources from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to the report, the clarification came after questions were raised earlier in the day when Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, did not mention his mother's death in his first public statement.
In the days following Ali Khamenei's assassination, some state media outlets reported that his wife had also been killed in the attack.
However, according to sources cited by Fars and the Revolutionary Guard, these reports turned out to be incorrect and she is alive.
