A pro-Iranian militia operating in Iraq has threatened to launch attacks on American and Israeli interests in Jordanian territory, signaling a possible expansion of the conflict in the region.
The group, known as Ashab al-Kahf, said in a Telegram announcement that it was accelerating its operations and called on civilians to stay away from facilities linked to the United States.
This militia has claimed responsibility for several rocket attacks in recent years, targeting American and allied bases, as well as the American embassy in Iraq.
At the same time, Jordanian authorities are reporting an increase in aerial threats. According to the state-run Petra news agency, Jordan's armed forces have intercepted 20 of the 22 missiles launched by Iran towards its territory during the fourth week of the conflict.
Also, the Jordanian Air Force has destroyed a total of 242 missiles and drones since the start of the conflict, although air defenses have failed to stop about 20 attacks.
Recent developments point to an increased risk of the conflict spreading to other countries in the region, while various armed actors warn of an intensification of military actions.
