Iran has agreed to allow the passage of 20 ships under the Pakistani flag through the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement by Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
In a post on the X platform, Dar announced that the agreement foresees two ships passing through this strategic maritime corridor every day. He described the decision as a positive step towards regional stability.
"This is a welcome and constructive gesture from Iran and deserves appreciation. It is a harbinger of peace and will help bring stability to the region," Dar wrote.
The development comes at a time of high tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important routes for global energy transport.
According to official US statements, Pakistan has played a mediating role in contacts between the United States and Iran. US special envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed this role on Thursday.
This step is interpreted as a limited signal of flexibility from Tehran, while broader issues related to navigation safety and control over the strait remain open.
