Israel declares that it has achieved its main objectives in the war against Iran, but warns that military operations will continue indefinitely.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said his country had "won" the war, arguing that Iran had been significantly weakened and no longer posed the same threat as at the beginning of the conflict.
However, he stressed that the military campaign will continue until strategic objectives are achieved, which Israel defines as the elimination of "existential threats."
"We must be patient," Saar declared, on the 18th day of the war, which has caused over 2,000 casualties in the region, mainly in Iran and Lebanon, but also in Israel and other Gulf countries.
The long-term goal, according to Israeli officials, is to weaken Iran's military capabilities and create conditions that could lead to internal political change in the country. However, Saar acknowledged that any overthrow of the regime can only come from the Iranian people themselves.
On the ground, the war remains active. The Israeli military announced that it is striking ballistic missile launchers, storage facilities and facilities related to the Iranian nuclear program, as well as security structures.
Despite claims of victory, Iran continued to launch missile barrages toward Israel today, showing that it still retains the capabilities for long-range attacks.
At the same time, tensions have spilled over into the economic and strategic dimension. Iran has significantly restricted passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a key artery for global energy trade. Saar called the move “modern piracy” with international consequences.
Meanwhile, US efforts to mobilize allies in support of operations in the region have met with resistance, with some countries refusing to get involved and criticizing the way the conflict has begun.
Israel has not given a deadline for ending the war, while the military has prepared operational plans for the coming weeks, signaling a conflict that remains open despite declarations of "victory."
