Russia has taken stock of the consequences of the destruction of the dam in Ukraine.
The Russian Minister for Emergencies announced that there were 41 victims and 121 people injured from the destruction of the Kakhovka dam in southern Ukraine. During a meeting of the Russian government, chaired by Vladimir Putin, Alexander Kurenkov said that more than 8,000 people were evacuated from the flood zone.
On the morning of June 6, a dam below the Dnipro River burst and flooded towns and villages on both sides, forcing thousands to flee their homes.
It was described as one of the most damaging events of the war so far and Ukraine's United Nations has said it has caused a dire humanitarian crisis within the flooded communities.
The Ukrainian government has asked the UN to launch a post-disaster needs assessment that will look in depth at the long-term implications of the attack, authorities announced on Twitter.
Both Russia and Ukraine blamed each other for the dam's destruction.
