United States President Donald Trump has called for China and Japan to be involved in securing the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most strategic routes for global energy transport.
Asked about the possibility of reopening the strait for oil and gas shipments, Trump criticized Western allies, stating that "they haven't had the courage to do it."
He stressed that the US is not directly dependent on this sea route: "We don't use the strait. At a certain point, it will open itself."
The US president added that a broader international commitment is required to stabilize the situation: "A lot of help will be needed," emphasizing that "it would be good" if countries like China and Japan, which use the strait, were included in this process.
His statements come at a time of rising tension in the region, where the security of the Strait of Hormuz remains essential for global energy supplies.
