"On February 16, 2024, in colony No. 3, convict AA Navalny did not feel well after a walk, losing consciousness.
The medical staff of the institution arrived immediately and the emergency medical team was called. "The emergency doctors have confirmed the death of the convict," the announcement states.

Navalny was arrested in 2021 after recovering from an assassination attempt with novichok poison that has been linked to Moscow's FSB security service.
But who is Alexei Navalny?
Navalny gained international attention in August 2020 when he fell ill on a flight from Siberia to Moscow and fell into a coma from poisoning.
Navalny was treated in Germany where the government said he had been poisoned with a chemical nerve agent from the Novichok group. Novichok was used in a March 2018 attack on former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia Skripal, in the city of Salisbury.
Navalny returned to Russia in January 2021 and was immediately arrested by the authorities.
A month later, a Moscow court sentenced Navalny to more than two and a half years in prison for violating the terms of his probation from a 2014 case while he was in Germany.
Last December, Navalny was transferred to the infamous prison located in a remote area. The official name of the prison is IK-3, but it is better known as the "Polish Wolf". The prison is located about 2,000 kilometers northeast of Moscow and has about 1,050 inmates.
Navalny was sentenced to 19 years in prison in August 2023 on charges of extremism. He had stated that the charges against him were politically motivated.
The 47-year-old was transferred to an Arctic prison, considered one of the toughest, late last year.
