The Supreme Court of North Macedonia has accepted the request of Aleksandar Gjorcevski, to release him from prison and leave him under "house arrest".
Gjorčevski was arrested after his daughter Vanja was found dead after being reported missing. He is accused of collaborating with the kidnappers.
"The Supreme Court of the Republic of North Macedonia announces the opinion that after the public session held on 25.04.2024, the Council for Criminal Offenses has made a Decision with which the complaint of the accused AG, declared through his defense lawyer Vladimir Tufegdžić, a lawyer from Skopje , was accepted and the decision of the Skopje Court of Appeal KSŽ-320/24 dated 02.04.2024 was changed and the accused was assigned house arrest and security measures , the Court announced today.
Today's session was the second public session before the Supreme Court regarding the measure of detention against Vanja's father, after in March of this year the Supreme Court rejected the appeal against the measure of detention of Gjorčevski, following the decision of the Court of Appeal in Skopje.
Aleksandar Gjorčevski is suspected of having helped kidnap his daughter, minor Vanja Gjorčevska, who was reported missing on November 27 and found dead near Skopje on December 3.
