Negotiations with the US, Iran: Trump not ready for talks on nuclear program

Tehran has rejected the possibility of equal negotiations with the United States, despite US President Donald Trump hinting last week that dialogue could be resumed.

The Iranian Foreign Minister stated that Washington's current approach "does not contain any sign of willingness for honest talks."

These statements came after rising tensions, following Israel's strike on Iran in June and subsequent US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Efforts to revive dialogue on the nuclear program have remained frozen.

Washington, European countries and Israel accuse Iran of using its nuclear program as a cover for developing atomic weapons, while Tehran insists its projects are entirely peaceful.

Before the 12-day conflict, the parties had held five rounds of indirect talks, but negotiations were blocked mainly over the issue of uranium enrichment, which the US seeks to limit.

"The US cannot expect to get at the negotiating table what it failed to win on the battlefield," Abbas Araghchi declared. He added that Iran remains ready for dialogue, but not for dictated negotiations.

While Deputy Minister Saeed Hatibzadeh accused Washington of turning the negotiation process into "a political spectacle" to advance its objectives.
