Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Netanyahu told Putin that Israel will not stop until Hamas is destroyed, writes Al Jazeera.

"The prime minister made it clear that Israel had been attacked by brutal and despicable killers, had gone to war determined and united, and would not stop until it destroyed Hamas' military and governance capabilities," an Israeli government statement said.

The Kremlin had previously stated that Putin had offered to help broker a deal to reach "a peaceful solution through political and diplomatic means".
