Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he believes that Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, is still alive, although his condition remains unclear.
Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared in public since he took over after the assassination of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in airstrikes carried out by the US and Israel at the beginning of the war.
His absence has raised doubts about his health and real control over the country's leadership. According to reports, he was seriously injured in the attack, which also killed five members of his family.
In an interview with CBS's "60 Minutes," Netanyahu said that Mojtaba Khamenei is in hiding.
"I think Mojtaba Khamenei is alive. It is difficult to say what condition he is in ," he declared.
According to Netanyahu, the Iranian leader is staying in a bunker or a secret location and is trying to exercise his authority, but without the same influence that his father had.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Fars agency reported that Khamenei met with a military commander and gave new instructions on continuing operations and confronting opponents.
