A serious incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in the Rogoredo district of Milan, an area known for drug trafficking activity. At around 6:00 p.m., a young man, who according to initial reports is a citizen of North African origin and about 20 years old, was shot dead by police after approaching a patrol of plainclothes agents with a gun in his hand.
According to official sources, the armed young man was spotted by a group of police officers from the Mecenate police station, who were patrolling the area as part of an anti-drug operation. He was also seen by another police patrol on the move. After he pulled out his weapon, the police opened fire on him, immediately neutralizing him.
Emergency doctors from 118 arrived at the scene, but nothing could be done for the young man, he died shortly after the shooting, due to severe injuries. So far, his identity has not been officially confirmed.
Forensic police experts immediately intervened to analyze the crime scene. According to initial assessments, the weapon the young man was carrying turned out to be a replica with dummy cartridges (not real), which may have created misunderstanding and panic among the law enforcement officers. However, the police emphasize that the threatening behavior and the context of the area justified the armed response.
The incident has sparked debate about the use of force by police and security in marginalized neighborhoods of Milan, while investigations into the victim's identity and motives are ongoing.
