Iran is ready to respond to any Israeli action against Iranian territory, Revolutionary Guard Corps Air Force Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh said today, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency.
The Iranian commander made the comments as Tehran awaits Israeli retaliation for the October 1 Iranian missile attacks on Israel.
"Everyone should know that all US bases and their aircraft carriers are up to 2,000 kilometers away. Iran is within range of our missiles. Iran has always been ready for an 'all-out' war," Hajizadeh added.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized earlier today that Iran has no red lines when it comes to protecting its people and interests.
Iran launched a ballistic missile attack against Israel on October 1 in retaliation for the Israeli military's killing of Iranian-linked militant leaders in the region. Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant promised a lethal, precise and particularly surprising response to the Iranian attack.
Iran's top diplomat has made a sustained effort to curb the scale of possible Israeli retaliation. On Sunday he met with his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, who said Baghdad was opposed to an expansion of the Middle East war into Iran.
In a joint press conference, Aragchi reiterated that Iran will continue consultations to prevent the escalation of tension in the region and work for peace and a ceasefire in the region.
He added that Iran was "fully prepared for a war situation... but we don't want war, we want peace."
