The Italian Foreign Minister and at the same time the head of Forca Italia, Antonio Tajani, declared this Tuesday that the agreement reached between Rome and Tirana, to build a migrant camp in Albania, cannot be compared with the idea of Britain to send illegal migrants to Rwandan.
Tajani emphasized that in the case of Italy, asylum requests will not be managed by a third country, such as Albania, but will be managed by Italy itself.
It is worth noting that this protocol is not comparable to the agreement between the United Kingdom and Rwanda. There is no outsourcing of the management of asylum claims to a third country and there is no derogation from internationally guaranteed rights. Something like this has been reaffirmed several times in the Protocol and in the signed agreement" , he said.
Speaking from the parliament, Antonio Tajani stated that the government will present to the parliament at the right time a draft law of ratification, in which are the rules and divisions necessary for the implementation of the protocol.
"Albania will soon join the European Union and is part of the Council of Europe. Exceptions are impossible. The agreement protocol between Albania and Italy is an important part of our government's general strategy on the international stage ," he said.
