The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Palestine has strongly criticized the United Nations Security Council for failing to deal with the humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
"The UN Security Council is drowning in deplorable double standards and lacks minimal consensus on its duties and responsibilities towards the humanitarian disaster that has befallen our people and is the new Nakba. The Nakba refers to the mass displacement of Palestinians in the 1940s when the state of Israel was established.
The Ministry strongly opposes the politicization of the continued entry of all humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and considers it an open violation of international law and international human rights law ," the statement said.
The ministry called for the establishment of permanent humanitarian corridors to provide aid and protection to Palestinians in Gaza. Two small convoys of trucks entered Gaza from Egypt through the Rafah crossing over the weekend, with a total of 34 trucks.
Earlier, the Palestinian health ministry in Gaza reported that 5,087 people, including 2,055 children and 1,119 women, had been killed since October 7.
