
At least 10 people were killed and 32 others injured after a fire broke out at a hotel in a ski resort in western Turkey.
The fire broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu province during the winter holidays for schools across the country, a time when families flock to ski resorts and other vacation spots.
"Today at 03.27 a fire broke out in a hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort, unfortunately the death toll has reached ten and the number of injured has reached 32," Turkish Interior Minister Ali Gerlikaya announced via X.
Rescue teams are still searching the hotel for survivors, with the death toll expected to rise, broadcaster NTV said.
The flames broke out at around 3:30 a.m. local time, when most residents were asleep. In an attempt to evacuate, some residents tied sheets together to make a rope that they used to descend to a lower floor.

The cause of the fire remains unclear. Television footage showed smoke billowing from a building framed by snow-capped mountains. Dozens of rescue and fire crews were sent to the area from surrounding towns.
