Every travel destination has its own beauty. Food, travel, history, attractions are some of the elements that attract tourists around the world. However, perhaps the most important element for everyone is how safe the destination of interest is.

There is a city that ranks as the safest in Europe, according to an analysis by international travel agency Riviera Travel.

The research took current crime levels into account in proportion to the increase in crime rates worldwide over the past five years. It then compiled an overall safety score, revealing how safe each city is.

The popular and highly touristic Dubrovnik in Croatia tops the list with an overall safety score of 44.14 from the Riviera Travel rating model. In addition to being a safe place, Dubrovnik attracts many tourists due to its medieval architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city is known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic" and has a picturesque old town that is worth exploring. In fact, many scenes from "Game of Thrones" were filmed there because of the medieval character of the old town. Dubrovnik received a rating of 8.76 for the crime rate, which indicates it is "very low", and 35.38 for the increase in crime over the last five years, which is also "low".

In second place on Riviera Travel's list is Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, with an overall safety score of 55.81. Like Dubrovnik, Tallinn is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a city with a medieval character.

The Polish capital, Warsaw, ranks third with a score of 60.19. The popular destination has seen a "moderate" increase in crime over the past five years, but the overall picture continues to show a "very low" crime rate. Many tourists visit to experience its rich history and unique Polish cuisine.

Prague ranks fourth with a score of 60.88, with a "moderate" increase in crime over the past five years and an overall "very low" crime score. The capital of the Czech Republic and the country's largest city, Prague is a popular European destination for thousands of tourists each year, drawn by its Gothic cathedrals and tower-studded landscape.

In fifth place, Krakow was ranked with 64.31 points and, according to Riviera Travel, has a “low” crime rate of 20.7 and a “moderate” increase in crime over the past five years of 43.61. Krakow boasts Europe’s largest medieval market, as well as a famous Old Town and is another UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Meanwhile, Amsterdam ranked sixth with a score of 71.09, followed by Munich, Germany with 73.74 and Iceland's capital, Reykjavik.

Zurich took ninth place, followed by the Hungarian capital Budapest in tenth place.
