Israel has stated that the US helped coordinate the attack on the gas field, despite Trump's claim that he knew nothing about it.
US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth recently repeated Donald Trump's claim that the US president knew nothing about the attack on Iran's South Pars gas field.
However, Reuters reports that Israel says its attack on the gas facilities was coordinated with the United States.
Israel has not publicly claimed responsibility for the attack on South Pars. On Wednesday evening, Trump said in a social media post that Washington "knew nothing about this particular attack" and that Israel would not attack the gas field again unless Iran attacked Qatar again.
The three Israeli officials, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity, said Israel was not surprised by Trump's comments.
They described the dynamic as similar to what unfolded after Israel struck fuel depots in Iran a few weeks ago. After those strikes, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth said that in "that particular case, they were not our attacks."
