African dust covers Crete, the sky turns orange in Heraklion and Chania

African dust has created an eerie landscape in Heraklion and Chania, Crete, Greece, where the sky has turned orange.

As can be seen in the photo, the dust has covered almost all areas of Crete. Combined with golden temperatures, but also rain, it has created a suffocating atmosphere for all residents.

The Civil Protection of the Region of Crete has recommended that citizens avoid unnecessary travel, especially people with respiratory or heart problems, children and the elderly.
