'Politico': Suella Braveraman, the most hated politician in Britain!

For several days, Suella Braveman has been the most divisive, if not the most hated, political figure in Britain, writes the prestigious ' Politico' . This is because she is currently the most divisive British politician of the time; her fiery rhetoric on immigration makes even those within her own party tremble.

The Home Secretary of the United Kingdom said that "homeless people living on the streets have 'chosen' this lifestyle". Her comments caused a storm of reaction, at a time when a record number of Britons have not suffered the increase in the cost of living.

For the second time in recent months, some of her fellow Conservative MPs have protested in the Conservative Party about her rhetoric. In September, her claim that immigrants were posing as gay to gain asylum drew backlash and condemnation from singer Elton John, among others.

In addition, she has previously labeled migrant arrivals an "invasion", prompting the Archbishop of Canterbury to speak of "dangerous rhetoric".

This time, in a post a week ago on the X platform (formerly Twitter), Braverman said he wants to stop homeless people from pitching their tents in public spaces.

"We cannot allow our streets to be taken over by rows of tents inhabited by people, many of them from abroad, who live on the streets by choosing this lifestyle," she wrote.

The post has angered aid organisations, the opposition and even some Tory MPs as Britain, the world's sixth-largest economy, faces an acute housing and cost-of-living crisis exacerbated by inflation. Even the prime minister, Rishi Sunak, distanced himself from the harsh line of his minister.

According to figures released by the UK government in October, between March 2022 and March this year 104,510 families in England were living in temporary accommodation, a 10% increase on the same period last year and an unprecedented number from 1998, when data began to be kept.

In London, 3,272 people have been sleeping on the streets or in shacks since April this year, around half of them doing so for the first time.
