The Russian president says European countries should avoid direct involvement in attacks against Russia, while Ukraine continues to receive extensive military aid from the West...
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that so far no European country has decided to use its territory to launch drones against Russia, as it is aware of the consequences such an action would bring. The statements were made during an informal meeting with graduates of higher military institutions, RBC reported.
According to Putin, European politicians recognize the potential consequences of direct involvement in attacks on Russian territory and therefore try to keep their distance from such actions. As an example, he cited the flights of Ukrainian drones over the Baltic states, claiming that local authorities avoid blaming Russia and attribute the incidents to technical problems, system errors or interference by electronic warfare means.
Putin also stressed that, although European states are not using their territory for direct attacks, they are developing military production capacities and continuing to supply weapons to the conflict zone.
Later, the Russian president ordered the government to take additional measures to minimize the impact of Ukrainian attacks on Russian infrastructure. He stated that Russian forces are continuing the offensive and are putting pressure on units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces along the entire front line.
"They are pushing them (the Ukrainian Armed Forces), they are pushing them in all areas of combat contact. There is no sector where the opposite would happen," Putin said.
The Russian president added that Ukraine continues to receive large-scale military assistance from Western countries, including drones. According to him, these assets are being sent in significant quantities, while the West continues to provide all-round support to Kiev.
In another part of his statements, Putin also commented on the "open letter" of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He argued that such calls do not contribute to a peaceful resolution of the conflict, but create opportunities for further escalation of tensions.
"No, such calls do not create the necessary conditions. On the contrary, they create a kind of opportunity for conflict," Putin said, responding to a question on the issue.
