According to reports from local media, Russia has today conducted nationwide emergency drills, preparing for the scenario of a nuclear conflict.
Sirens sounded across Russia and television stations broadcast warnings as part of nationwide emergency drills being held today.
As part of the exercises, the televisions broadcast an announcement that said: " Attention everyone! The readiness of the public warning system is being tested! Please stay calm !"
The exercise, aimed at testing the readiness of the country's emergency responders, follows Ukraine's drone attacks on Moscow and other cities.
Russian media said the story of the exercise was about the growing risk of a conflict between the nuclear powers - echoing warnings from the Kremlin that Western support for Ukraine has increased the threat of a direct confrontation between Russia and NATO.
The exercise simulated the response to a nuclear attack situation in which 70% of housing and all vital infrastructure are destroyed, large areas contaminated by radioactive radiation and a general mobilization announced.
Such tests appear to be a direct threat to the West, which has gained a lot of ground in the conflict in Ukraine by becoming involved in every aspect.
