Italian police arrested a Pakistani and an Afghan accused of kidnapping for the purpose of extortion, sexual violence, injury and facilitating illegal immigration.
The victim is a 17-year-old girl of Syrian origin, who escaped with her family to Turkey during the war and from there, after the February 2023 earthquake, to the countries of the European Union.
As for an Albanian woman, wanted for the same investigation and untraceable, an arrest warrant has been issued by the police. The case is complex and the investigations have been difficult. During the journey to Germany, the girl – with her father, mother, grandmother and brother – ended up in the hands of traffickers who separated the women from the men in Slovenia.
The first were abandoned in a farmhouse in Reggio Emilia, the second on the highway near Udine. Then the 17-year-old was sent elsewhere and her family members were forced to pay a ransom for her release.
During that period, according to the reconstruction of events, he suffered abuse and violence, including a broken arm. Last May 30, she was found in Lodi by a gas station attendant in a service area, and from there the police began their investigation.
The police, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office of Lodi and the Prosecutor's Office of the Anti-Mafia Directorate of the District of Bologna, arrested the two foreigners. Two Mercedes vehicles used to take the family to Italy were also found.
