At least seven people died after a bus plunged into the Moika River in St. Petersburg, according to the latest report released Friday night by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
The accident happened around 13:00 on Friday, when a bus with about 20 passengers left the road and fell from a bridge into the waters of the Moika River.
The previous number of Russian authorities spoke of three dead and six wounded, of whom four were hospitalized in critical condition.
The 44-year-old bus driver has been arrested and is being interrogated. According to Russian reports, he claimed he lost control of the vehicle due to a brake system failure.
In a video released, the camera inside the bus shows the driver trying to regain control of the vehicle before it fell off the bridge, but without success.
