Scholz: Peace in Ukraine only if Putin withdraws from the war

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said today that peace in Ukraine is possible at any time, only if Russian President Vladimir Putin stops the war.

Scholz also stated that there have always been initiatives for mediation.

"For example, immediately after the outbreak of war, Russia and Ukraine negotiated directly with each other.

The negotiations then failed because Russia only used them as an excuse to simultaneously move its troops to the east for a major offensive ," the German chancellor emphasized.
