Moroccan police have seized 1,488 tons of cocaine hidden in banana boxes in the northern port of Tangier Med.
The drugs were found in a container on a ship sailing from South America to Turkey under the European flag, according to a police statement, Reuters reports.
The operation was carried out in coordination with the Spanish security services, the Moroccan police announced, stressing that the investigation is ongoing.
We recall that in October, the Moroccan police seized 1.37 tons of cocaine in Casablanca.
The drugs were hidden in a shipment of imported fish found at a distribution company in Morocco's largest city, and the shipment was imported from Latin America and was going through Spain.
