The killing of senior Hamas official Saleh Arouri has caused the interruption of negotiations between Israel and Hamas, Arab diplomatic sources have informed the Israeli daily Haaretz.
Meanwhile, Hamas has said that two leaders of the Al Qassam brigade (the military wing of Hamas), Samir Findi Abu Amer and Azzam al-Aqraa Abu Ammar, have been killed. The two leaders were killed in the same explosion attack in which Saleh Arouri was killed, Hamas announced.
An Israeli drone struck the offices of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in Beirut on Tuesday, killing four people.
The explosion rocked Beirut as tensions escalated on the border with Israel. No immediate cause was given for the blast, but videos show extensive damage to cars and homes.
Lebanon's National News Agency reported that the explosion was heard in the Masrifiya neighborhood, south of Beirut, and that cars were on fire.
The cause of the explosion was unknown as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the agency. However, the Washington Post quoted a Hezbollah spokesman as saying that a Palestinian official's headquarters was targeted in the Dahiyeh suburb where Masrifiyah is located. The area is also home to Hezbollah's headquarters.
