White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles will begin treatment for early-stage breast cancer, US President Donald Trump announced in a post on the Truth Social platform.

Trump described Wiles as "an extraordinary chief of staff" and one of his most important aides, stressing that the medical prognosis for her condition is very good.

"Susie is one of the strongest people I know and will rise to this challenge immediately. The medical prognosis is excellent," the US president wrote.

Wiles will continue to work almost full-time at the White House during her treatment, he said. Trump praised her as one of his most trusted advisers and emphasized her dedication to public service.

"As one of my closest and most important advisors, Susie is strong and deeply committed to serving the American people. She will soon be better than ever," he added.

Susie Wiles, 68, is the first woman to hold the White House chief of staff since the position was created during the administration of President Dwight Eisenhower.

She has been a key figure in Trump's inner circle, co-managing the 2024 presidential campaign and remaining one of his most trusted advisors even after his defeat in the 2020 election and the events of January 6, 2021.

With a long career in Republican politics dating back to the 1970s, Wiles also served in the Ronald Reagan administration and then built a successful career as a political consultant and lobbyist in the state of Florida. She entered Trump's inner circle during the 2016 presidential campaign.
