Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US President Donald Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, have been in contact in recent days through text messages, Israeli television Channel 12 reported.
According to Israeli media, the information is based on a well-informed source, who said that communication between the two officials has continued informally in recent days.
The report comes at a time of high tensions between the United States and Iran, as war and military clashes in the region continue.
International media have previously reported on indirect channels of communication between Tehran and Washington, despite the lack of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries. Iranian officials have confirmed that a channel of communication exists with the American envoy and that messages are exchanged when necessary.
However, on several occasions Iranian authorities have denied media reports claiming direct contacts between the two parties, describing them as inaccurate.
Araghchi and Witkoff have been among the key figures in contacts and diplomatic efforts between Iran and the United States in recent years, including discussions on the Iranian nuclear program and reducing tensions in the region.
