Iran War, Trump: I was surprised by Britain's rejection, I have no

President Donald Trump said on Monday he was "not happy" with his British counterpart Keir Starmer, who initially refused to send military equipment to the Middle East when the US-Israeli war with Iran began.

“I was very surprised with the United Kingdom because the United Kingdom, two weeks ago, I said, ‘Why don’t you send some ships?’ And he really didn’t want to do that,” Trump told reporters.

Calling the United Kingdom his country's oldest ally, Trump said the US has spent a lot of money on NATO and defending Ukraine from Russia.

" I think it's terrible ," Trump said, adding that he was not happy with the United Kingdom.

The president said Starmer had told him yesterday that he was meeting with his team to make a decision about joining an effort to help secure the Strait of Hormuz.

" I said, 'You don't need to meet with the team. You're the prime minister. You can create it yourself, why do you need to meet with your team to find out whether or not you're going to send us some minesweepers or send us some boats?' I said, You don't need to meet with your team ," he added.

Trump also told reporters that he does not know whether Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, who has not appeared publicly since his appointment was announced, is alive.

"I mean, a lot of people are saying he's badly disfigured, they're saying he lost his leg, one leg, and he's been hurt really badly, some are saying he's dead, nobody's saying he's 100% healthy. So it could be a lot of different reasons. We don't know... whether he's dead or not. Now that it's been announced, I will say that nobody has seen him, which is unusual ," Trump said. The leader's absence from public view has led to widespread speculation about his status.
