Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has ordered that officials who were directly appointed by his father, Ali Khamenei, continue in office without the need for renewal of their terms.
The decision was made public through a written decree, issued on Monday, stating that several heads of institutions had requested clarification on their status following the change in the country's leadership.
" After questions from several leaders and officials of institutions who were directly appointed by the martyred leader, I announce that at the moment none of them need a renewal of their mandate ," the decree states.
In the document, Khamenei asks officials to continue their work in accordance with the policies and instructions they received during the time Ali Khamenei was at the helm of the country.
The decision is seen as an attempt to maintain institutional continuity and stability in state structures, following changes in the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
