Troubles increase for Vučić, opposition files complaint about Serbian

Political tensions in Serbia have deepened after months of anti-government protests.

Opposition parties have launched a new offensive against Vučić's government, accusing it of destroying institutions for a decade.

The campaign "Road to Prison, Justice for Serbia" has highlighted a series of accusations against Vučić and his brother, Andrej.

MP Marinika Tepic has requested that competent institutions initiate procedures for political and criminal accountability of senior officials.

"Vučić formally presents himself as president, but in fact acts as the head of the political wing of an organized criminal group. This indictment aims to dismantle the system of corruption, crime and fear that has gripped the state," she said.

The opposition MP has presented a document listing the affairs behind which, according to her, Vučić's power has been based for years, from the demolition of the shelter at the railway station in Novi Sad, to connections with Zvonko Veselinović and Milan Radoić, to electoral abuses.

Although President Vučić has not yet reacted, Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić rejected the accusations, calling them an attempt to "stop the president's political activity."

"So much nonsense, lies and rumors were said that even she herself could not understand what she wanted to say," said Ana Brnabić, speaker of the Serbian Parliament.

Meanwhile, the opposition remains persistent in its demands for investigations into Vučić and the banning of his party. The latest charges are related to the demands that have fueled anti-government protests that have been ongoing for more than a year.

Taking the lead from the tragedy in Novi Sad, the protests have been joined by students and many citizens, who persistently demand institutional investigations, the dismissal of those responsible, and the announcement of extraordinary parliamentary elections.
