"Make sure my son comes back alive," Israeli hostage's mother

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the body of hostage Idan Stevie has been found in the Gaza Strip. Following the discovery of Stevie's body, Israel said that 48 hostages remain in the Palestinian enclave, of whom only 20 are believed to be alive.

The mother of an Israeli hostage held in the Gaza Strip for nearly 23 months threatened to sue Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for "murder" if her son is not released alive.

"Netanyahu, if Matan comes back to me in a body bag, I will personally make sure you are charged with murder," said Einar Zangauker, a leading figure in the Hostage Families Forum, speaking in Tel Aviv before a rally calling for the release of hostages held in Gaza.

Her son Matan Zangauker was kidnapped on October 7, 2023, along with more than 200 others, during an unprecedented Hamas offensive in southern Israel that sparked the Gaza war.

"If Netanyahu chooses to invade the Gaza Strip instead of accepting the proposed ceasefire agreement, this will be tantamount to executing our beloved hostages and soldiers ," Zangauker added, speaking to reporters outside the Defense Ministry.

Not far from the ministry, thousands of protesters demanded the release of hostages and an end to the war in Gaza. Hamas recently announced that it had accepted a proposal from mediators for a 60-day ceasefire with the release of hostages in two phases.

However, Israel has not officially responded and the government has ordered the army to prepare for a major attack on Gaza City, with the Israeli government's stated goal of annihilating Hamas and returning the hostages.
