Corruption scandals inside and outside the US, Trump is heading towards trial in

As he continues his pharaonic global diplomacy, stories of corruption are piling up against him...

From the November 2024 election until his inauguration in January of this year, media pundits have been declaring the anti-Trump “resistance” movement dead. I was among them, because such a conclusion was so tempting.

As Trump returned to the White House, his power seemed unstoppable.

His enemies seemed divided and defeated. But we all spoke out before the time was right. “NeverTrumpism” is such a natural reaction to Trumpism that the desire to challenge and destroy his presidency has not disappeared. In fact, if you analyze the situation closely, you can see a “Resistance 2.0” gaining momentum in response to the second Trump administration.

Arguments for initiating impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump are being tested ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, and they will once again focus on the alleged corruption of the Trump family and its associates through the large sums of money they are receiving from the Middle East.

Trump visited Abu Dhabi yesterday, and he seems to be going crazy over the trillion-dollar deals he's signing.

"I want to thank the media. They have been very fair in their reporting. However, it is difficult for them to speak badly about me, because this is a tournament that will raise 3.5-4 trillion dollars," he said after the meeting in Qatar.

Everyone loves big numbers. But Trump is fooling himself that there can be no criticism of his grand tour of the Levant. There is the story of “Qatar Force One,” the news that Trump accepted a $400 million luxury jet as a gift from the Doha government.

It is expected to replace the aging Air Force One, and Trump has expressed disbelief at the negative reactions. “Only a fool would not accept this gift on behalf of our country,” he said. But the most ardent supporters of Israel on Trump’s staff are unhappy with his new friendship with the leadership of Qatar, which according to the official line from Tel Aviv is a state sponsor of terrorism.

If Trump continues to clash with Benjamin Netanyahu - and dares to reach some kind of nuclear deal with Tehran - the story of the plane gift will be seen as evidence of a diabolical pact with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Remember, it was allegations of a similar offer to Volodymyr Zelensky that led to the start of Trump's impeachment proceedings in 2019. But the plane story will be just one element in the new resistance movement. The biggest scandal looming is World Liberty Financial, the cryptocurrency business that the Trump sons launched at Mar-a-Lago last September.

It has not gone unnoticed that this month, an Abu Dhabi-based investment firm used a WLF “stablecoin” to invest $2 billion in Binance, the online cryptocurrency exchange. WLF’s co-founder is Zach Witkoff, the son of Steve Witkoff, Trump’s Middle East envoy.

And the entire activity reeks of corruption and conflict of interest, just like Hunter Biden's activities while his father was vice president and then president of the country.

Cryptocurrencies are still the “Wild West” of the digital future, full of nefarious operators, some of whom are very close to President Trump’s family.

And the WLF story is now being linked to the $Trump coin scandal - the obviously fake cryptocurrency that the president helped launch in the first week of his inauguration. A number of Trump associates made a lot of money from it.

Democrats claim to be shocked by the brazenness of the Trump family's private interests mixing with the national and international interests of the United States. "It's hard not to be simultaneously horrified by the damage he can do with such power, and amazed by his willingness to break so many taboos," Rob Malley, who helped broker Barack Obama's 2015 Iran deal, told Axios.

But without a majority in Congress, Trump's opponents are powerless. Then the question turns to the midterm elections: if Trump loses his narrow advantage in Congress as he did in 2018, Democrats will make the White House "kleptocracy" their main cause, and launch impeachment proceedings with the aim of removing him.

Of course, he is unlikely to be removed from office, as Democrats will likely not have enough votes in the Senate to end the Trump presidency. However, as Trump continues his pharaonic global diplomacy, corruption scandals are piling up and will start to turn against him.

And if most Americans don't start feeling richer as a result of these petro-trillions pouring into the tech-dominated American economy, it will be a downward spiral for Trump./ Adapted from "Pamphlet", from "The Spectator"
