
Italy is continuing to face the storm "Ciaran" which has caused numerous victims and floods.
The most critical situation is in Tuscany, where there are at least six victims and two missing.
In the region, winds reached up to 150 kilometers per hour and rainfall that had never been so heavy for at least half a century, according to Italian media.
Over 20 thousand people stayed in the dark for several hours. The water invaded roads, houses, flooded hospitals, factories, shopping centers and broke the banks of rivers this time in the territories of Prato, Pistoia and Pisa, as well as in Campi Bisenzio.
The government has declared a state of emergency in the region. Damage has also occurred in Veneto, where there is a missing person, a firefighter.
The bad weather warning continues at least until the end of the weekend, possibly less intense, writes TGCom.
The alert level remains high in Friuli and Sardinia, where the speed of the winds released by the cyclone reached up to 150 kilometers per hour.
Cyclone Ciaran's nightmare could end on Monday, when the storm dissipates, leaving a mild, wet southerly flow.
Meanwhile, the Council of Ministers, with the proposal of the Minister for Civil Defense and Maritime Policy Nello Musumeci, decided "to declare a state of emergency, for twelve months, in the territory of the provinces of Florence, Livorno, Pisa, Pistoia and Prato, as a result of meteorological events extremely intense that occurred starting on November 2, 2023, which led to a serious situation of danger to people's security, causing several victims, flooding and isolation of various localities, as well as the evacuation of many families from their homes .
Taking into account the need to give an immediate response to the affected population, an initial allocation of 5 million euros has been arranged to guarantee the most urgent measures and interventions aimed at saving and helping the population and restoring the functionality of public services and strategic network infrastructure, in waste and debris management activities, Italian media reports.
