Greece has threatened Albania with its membership in the EU if it does not allow the swearing in of Fredi Beleri as the mayor of Himara. Meanwhile, the Greek opposition has contradicted him, saying that they support the membership of the Western Balkans in the EU.
SYRIZA of Greece has openly declared its support for the perspective of membership of the Western Balkans, within the framework of the criteria set by the EU.
SYRIZA states that "unfortunately, instead of a structured strategy in the Balkans, Greece promotes the policy of Mitsotakis, which gives priority to his micropolitical interests and internal party balances and not to the interests and role of Greece in the region."
Mitsotakis on the one hand calls on the EU to integrate the countries of the Western Balkans in less than ten years, while on the other hand he fiercely fought the Prespa Agreement that melted this perspective and does not dare to ratify three technical agreements here and five years .
While holding pre-election support parties for the Albanian Prime Minister unconditionally, in front of the minority and before the local Albanian elections, he also tries to use the "Beleri" issue in the media to strengthen his image.
