The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US envoy Steve Witkoff lasted almost three hours, according to the Russian news agency Ria Novosti.
The negotiations were attended by presidential aide Yuri Ushakov and the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev.
After the meeting, Dmitriev considered Witkoff's visit a success. He added that dialogue will prevail.
President Vladimir Putin and the US leader's special envoy, Steven Wittkow, discussed the Ukrainian crisis at the meeting, presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov said.
"If we name the topics, then, first of all, of course, this is the Ukrainian crisis. And the second topic is the prospects for the possible development of strategic cooperation between the United States and Russia," he said.
Ushakov called the discussion useful and constructive.
The US leader's special envoy arrived in Moscow on Wednesday morning. This is his fifth visit to Russia in 2025. At the start of the trip, Witkoff visited Zaryadye Park with Dmitriev.
State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce also declined to comment earlier on the details of the trip.
According to her, the department does not know what Donald Trump will do after the visit.
