
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte regarding developments regarding the war between Ukraine and Russia, ahead of the meeting between US and Russian presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
According to the statement of the Turkish Presidency's Communications Directorate, Tayyip Erdogan said during the conversation that progress has been achieved in the Istanbul negotiations, which began with the aim of achieving a permanent ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, and expressed the view that this process is important, as it will allow positive developments in humanitarian issues.
For his part, the NATO Secretary General made assessments regarding the latest situation in Ukraine ahead of the summit in Alaska, the Turkish presidency said in a statement.
