Trump optimistic about summit with Putin: There is only a 25 percent chance that
US President Donald Trump appeared confident that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin would be willing to make a deal, during an interview with Fox News Radio. According to him, the threat of imposing new sanctions on Russia was a decisive factor in organizing the meeting. Trump emphasized that economic incentives and sanctions are “very powerful tools” in negotiations.

The president explained that tomorrow's meeting will serve as preparation for a second meeting, which, according to him, will be aimed at reaching an agreement. However, Trump avoided providing details on the possible content of an agreement or on the nature of the incentives and sanctions that could be discussed.

He added that there is a 25% chance that this meeting will not bring results. At the same time, Trump stated that a "border swap" should take place between Kiev and Moscow, without giving further explanations for this proposal.

He also announced that he plans to communicate with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders after the summit, but clarified that there will be no invitations to other parties if talks with Putin do not go as expected.

Asked whether there would be a joint press conference with the Russian president, Trump was reserved, saying it was not yet certain whether there would be a joint media appearance. However, he promised to make statements immediately after the meeting, regardless of the outcome.

On the other hand, the White House had previously announced that a joint conference between the two leaders would be held after the summit, which suggests that there may be disagreements within the American administration itself.
