Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni commented on the talks between Trump and Zelenskyy at the Pope's funeral, where leaders from around the world gathered.
"Seeing Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy talking about peace at the funeral of the Pope of Peace has such great meaning. Today was a historic day," she said.
She posted on X an image of Pope Francis that simply read: "To God."
There was no second meeting between Trump and Zelensky due to the tight schedules of both leaders, the Ukrainian president's office said. However, he held separate discussions with Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron.
The French president posted on X that Ukraine "is ready for an unconditional ceasefire" and that the so-called coalition of the willing, led by the UK and France, will continue to work to achieve a lasting peace.
