Illness and heatstroke, 100 people at the Pope's ceremony have health

The funeral ceremony of Pope Francis has concluded in St. Peter's Square, Vatican City, where nearly 50,000 believers, kings and queens, 50 heads of state, 23 prime ministers, delegations from 160 countries, around 4,000 priests and at least 120 delegations with religious representatives from around the world were present.

By lunchtime, 82 people had been treated by emergency medical personnel during Pope Francis' funeral across the region. The most common causes were fainting, physical distress and heatstroke.

It is learned that eight of them were transported by ambulance to the hospital. The emergency service treated the patients in 6 temporary medical centers specially set up near the funeral area.

However, considering the large number of participants, around 400,000 people present from St. Peter's Square to the road to 'St. Mary Major', there were no serious health problems among the participants during the day.

A sunny day but with cool temperatures, as well as the constant assistance of Civil Protection volunteers, who distributed water to the many people in the streets and squares of Rome, helped everything to pass without major complications.
